![]() ![]() Lets take a look at bretonnia as an example. Here, elite units are a straight buff to basics and you want to replace chaff as soon as your economy allows it. In total war we see nothing of this (in campaign). Basics were the all around unit to play, for the most part. ![]() Why is that? They are cost effective, while Elite fill specific roles, or are hard hitters. ![]() But even if there was no restrictions, you’d still recruit them more often than not. There, you were “forced” to recruit a fixed amount of units from the basic pool, which would make the bulk of your army (Dreadspears, skinks, Zombies…).
